David, a volunteer from Arkansas, helped bring a court
case to protect ivory-billed woodpecker habitat after birdwatchers showed
the bird was not extinct. As a result, the judge stopped a major
irrigation project that threatened the habitat. David also volunteered to
tell Congress how hunters and anglers care about the Endangered Species
Act.
Devin, a Fordham University student, stepped forward to
become one of the first people trained in the National Wildlife
Federation’s speaker’s series, which teaches people how to communicate
about global warming. The goal is to train 1,000 lecturers to present the
information delivered in the film An Inconvenient Truth to
audiences across America.
Val recently won an NWF Volunteer of the Year award.
While thousands of people across the country are gardening for wildlife
with the help of the National Wildlife Federation, Val and the people of
Washington take it to the next level by certifying entire communities. Val
started with her home of Camano Island but now advises other communities.
